"The hunter knows where to spread his net in order to snare the stag....And thou who seekest out the object of a lasting love learn to know the place which the fair one most do haut"(Ovid). I am some one who thinks of him self as a lover. I have always told my self that one of the jobs of men is to know women, if you ever wish to have any luck with the one your heart desire most. Reading the Art of Love i can't help but to notice some similarities between me and Ovid. He must have though th same thing when it comes to women. Men can't truly be men if he can not comprehend the nature of the very thing that he loves to be consume by, which are. women.
"First of all, be quite sure that there isn't a women who can not be won, and make up your mind that you will win her". In other words he is saying, the key to winning women is to be confident, when your are confident it will show and she, although she might deny it, will be impressed. The Art of Love is a literature that i have come to like, because of the way it is written. "i have been appointed by Venus a tutor to tender love". "Venus has made her seat of empire the city of her beloved Aeneas". through out the essay Ovid made refrence to mythical characters, which i happend to find really good in term of writting style. I also like because i like reading mythical thing such as Hercules and Mount Olympic or Zeus. These mythical stories always have two things in common, one: they always about love, and two they are always about heroism. In his essay, Ovid talks about these two things, one: finding love and how to keep it and two: being your lover's knight and shinning armor. I absolutely love this story and i do believe any one who is looking for love should take some of Ovid advice and make it there own by putting his own input into it.
